I have been creating ghost images for 3 years as a way to release and let go.  The idea of a ghost image came to me as a metaphor for leaving behind phases of life I have out grown.  My love of early photography, and the interesting ways in which photographers manipulated images has inspired my recent collection of work.  

These images have a whimsical quality about them due to the layering effect of the figure.  Each ghost seems to linger within their setting, as if caught in a brief moment of time.   The lighting shows traces of movement and adds contrast allowing the figures to stand out against the dark, while others materialize from the light.  

My work is created by using long exposures and low light.  With a long exposure time, I am able to layer the images, creating a more unusual effect.   All of the work was done manually with no digital manipulation. By relinquishing part of the control, I have allowed for a great deal of mystery in the final images.
